Every firefighter on scene sits in one of three exposure states. Each state carries a text label, so nobody has to read color alone.

Monitored

Dose is accumulating and stays below the alert threshold. Command still sees a live reading for each firefighter, so quiet never means blind.

Approaching limit

Warned

Dose is climbing toward the threshold. Command gets the early signal with time left to rotate a crew before the limit arrives.

Limit exceeded

Alerted

The threshold has been crossed. Command is alerted right away, and the exposure is written to that firefighter’s permanent career record.
